Friday's area roundup: Peabody out-slugs Beverly


Peabody 16, Beverly 12: Michelle McHugh went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBI and Dominique DelBene added three hits and three RBI to lead the Tanners (8-3 overall, 7-2 NEC) to a win in a slugfest. Shelbi Wilson earned the win for Peabody, striking out three and walking two while allowing six earned runs.

Ally Cabral picked up a pair of RBIs on three hits for the Panthers. Jessica Cross, Molly Pitman and Hannah Silvestri recorded RBI singles, Emily Cross added two RBIs on a single and a double.

Pentucket 11, Ipswich 3: Caroline Lynch scored two runs scored and finished 1-for-2 with a triple. Gabby D’Agostino went 1-for-3 with a run scored and sophomore Carly Coughlin finished 2-for-4 with two runs batted in for the Tigers.


Noble & Greenough 7, Pingree 1: Harry Copeland went 2-for-4 on the day with three stolen bases and a run scored for the Highlanders (6-6). Zach Mitchell got the lone RBI in the loss.


Masconomet 18, Saugus 6: Cam Jung finished with four points on three goals and one assist for the Chieftains (11-4). Max Craig scored twice and added three helpers, Tom O’Keefe and Harrison Moody both chipped in with two goals, Ben Hoesley finished with one goal and one assist and Parker Sears added a goal in the win.

Chelmsford 7, Peabody 6 (OT): Josh Fiore had two goals and one assist and Zach Billie also had two goals, but the Tanners (3-10) were felled by an OT strike. Reed Foster and Mike Vadala both contributed a goal and an assist for Peabody, while got 10 ground balls from long stick middie Jason Marshall and eight saves from Matt Cloutman in goal.

Pingree 7, Cushing 6: Freshman goalie E.J. White made 19 saves for the Highlanders (9-3).

North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 13, Lynn Tech 2: Dan McCormack scored three goals and Ian LaFavour and Anthony Santo each contributed two goals and one assist as the Bulldogs improved to 9-4 overall, clinching a tournament berth in the process. Brian Raustad, Nick Humerian and Shawn MacDonald played well defensively for the winners.
