“I know its hot, I know its humid, I know 100 miles is a long time to run. We’re planning for 24 hours of running, hopefully faster. It’s flat, which is good, but it’s all pavement, which is bad because the heat will bake you from top to bottom.”
Both Raby and Quigley took part in a similar race last year in New Gloucester, Maine over Memorial Day weekend, a day shy of the anniversary of Casagrande’s death. The friends ran 50 miles through 35-degree temperatures, finishing 18th and 19th out of 100 runners, respectively.
