ESSEX — The VIP members of Crustacean Nation gathered at the Manchester Athletic Club earlier this week for the Boston Lobsters 2014 Launch Party to celebrate the beginning of the team’s 10th Mylan World TeamTennis season under CEO Bahar Uttam.
Over the last decade, Uttam has worked tirelessly to grow the brand of the Boston Lobsters. This was a night to reflect upon that growth as well as the relationships he has made along the way.
“The two most important things that have been accomplished in the last 10 years is that first, people know who the Lobsters are and second, I’ve built relationships,” explained Uttam. “Looking back on 10 years, what hits me the most is that I’ve branded the Boston Lobsters and that I’ve built very satisfying relationships.”
Guests were treated to food and drinks and given the opportunity to meet Uttam, as well as Lobsters’ new head coach Bob Greene and men’s double star Eric Butorac, who recently made it to the finals at the Australian Open.
Halfway through the night, Uttam thanked all the guests and sponsors in attendance before handing the microphone to Greene, who introduced himself and the rest of the 2014 Lobsters. That included Butorac, Sharon Fichman, Rik De Voest, Megan Moulton-Levy and marquee player John Isner.
“The message to the fans is that we have a really exciting team this year,” said Greene. “They’re a great group of pros who are a good fit for each other and a great fit for the Boston Lobsters.”
Greene then passed the mic off to Butorac, who is back for his fifth straight Mylan WTT campaign as a member of the Lobsters.
Butorac was in attendance with his wife Maggie and infant son Jack, and he spoke genuinely about how pleased he is to be with the team for another season — one he expects to be very successful.
