---- — The Endicott baseball team forced a winner-take-all game in the NCAA Division 3 New England Regional Tournament this weekend, but had their championship hopes dashed with an 11-1 loss to Southern Maine yesterday.

The Gulls defeated Southern Maine, 7-6, on Saturday to avoid elimination and force a final game in the double-elimination regional. Junior second baseman Harry Oringer had two hits, including a three-run homer to lead the offense in the win. Senior catcher E.J. Martinez knocked in the winning run in the ninth inning and freshman pitcher Colby Morris threw 4 1/3 strong innings of relief to pick up the win. Davarn Nova struck out two in the bottom of the ninth to earn the save.

Endicott started the final game playing with some momentum. The Gulls scored first and got five shutout innings from J.J. Branch, but eventually Southern Maine put things together. Tad Gold drove in Endicott’s only run in the first inning of the final.

Endicott finished the year with a 34-16 record, and Gold, sophomore shortstop Cody Hall and Nova were named to the All-Tournament Team.
