Area roundup: Endicott women top Salve to remain undefeated


Endicott 59, Salve ReginA 57: The Gulls defense held off three opportunities for Salve to tie the game in the final minute as Endicott (4-0) remained undefeated on the season. Samantha Crough scored 22 points for Endicott, which didn’t scored in the final 4:45 but played excellent defense to hang on. Jen McBrien had eight points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists and Kayleen Whall added 10 points off the bench for the winners.

Western New England 50, Gordon 26: Gordon (2-2) had a tough night offensively, with Brooke Kratche contributing a team-best eight points and nine rebounds.


Western New Engladn 68, Gordon 67: The Golden Bears took the lead with seven seconds left and Gordon missed a shot as time expired to drop to 1-2 on the young season. Park Thomas led four Scots in double figured with 16 points. Luke Hamilton added 13 while Shaun Roach scored 10 and Jason Dempsey scored 10 with five rebounds.

Salve Regina 84, Endicott 78: The Gulls (2-1) suffered their first loss of the year in the Commonwealth Coast Conference opener. Lachlan Magee scored 21 points and Endicott led by five at halftime before falling behind. Lance Greene added 19 points and four of Endicott’s five starters scored in double figures.
