Area roundup: Salem boys track earns first win



Pingree splits: The Highlanders fell in double overtime in the opener of the Berwick Holiday Tournament over the weekend, then came up with a 47-17 win over St. Mark’s in the consolation game. Senior captain Katlyn Oliver had 17 points in the win, freshman point guard Kerri Zerfoss scored eight and junior guard Haley Sabino scored seven while Pingree (4-3) shot 73 percent from the line.

In the 43-38 double OT loss to Middlesex, Oliver also scored 17 points and freshman guard Cassidy Assad chipped in nine.

St. Mary’s 58, Card. Spellman 28: The Spartans remained perfect on the season at 3-0 with Brianna Rudolph pouring in 21 points. Senior guard Jen Cook from Hamilton scored eight points with four steals and freshman forward Gianna Moschella of Peabody had a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.
