It was another big night for Marblehead sophomore Mia Bongiorno. With four goals in a 6-1 win over Lynn English last night, Bongiorno continues to earn respect in the locker room and on the field.
“She’s (Bongiorno) just one of those girls when she is on, she is on,” Marblehead skipper Andrew Bub explained. “I know she’s only a sophomore, but she plays like a senior. She commands the middle of the field and has great touch. She very much is respected by her teammates.”
Monica Thorne and Rebecca Unterborn also had markers for the Magicians while Meggie Collins continues to be the central focus in the backfield. The win bumps Marblehead to 5-2-2.
Beverly 1, Swampscott 0: Caitlin Harty had the game-winner on a ball from Becca Kemmer for Beverly (7-2) while Casey Cook was outstanding in the midfield.
Leah Dawley, Tess Gorman and MacKenzie Robertson all had solid performances for Swampscott (5-2-2).
Peabody 7, Saugus 1: Hayley Dowd and Madison Doherty scored two goals and an assist each for Peabody (8-0) with Victoria Digiacomo, Caroline Colbert (assist) and Kara Digiacomo adding a goal each. Cayla Bucci led the defense along with Bianca Muscato.
Peabody 4, Gloucester 0: Jenna Ferullo recorded a hat trick in yesterday’s breast cancer awareness game. Joanne Frangias had the other goal for the Tanners, which move to 5-2-3 overall.
ME 1, Pentucket 0: Brittany Smith scored the goal for the undefeated Hornets (10-0).
Beverly 4, Saugus 0: Katie Pietrini scored two goals for Beverly (10-0) while Nicole Woods dominated in the midfield. Katie Wheatley and Natalie Shea also scored for the Panthers.
Swampscott 3, Revere 0: Alexa Steriti led Swampscott (8-1-1) with a goal and two assists while Tori Thistle and Victoria Himiraf added a goal each.
Andover 3, Bishop Fenwick 0: Natalie Moore had a solid game in the midfield for Bishop Fenwick (3-4-2).
NS Tech/Essex Aggie 1, Minuteman 0: Senior captain Mike Reynolds scored his first career goal when he deposited Nick LaClair’s rebound to lift the Bulldogs (3-3-3, 2-1-2 CAC) to victory. Seniors Wilson Aguilar and Cristian Scopa were staunch defensively and Jordan Mendez earned his third shutout in net.
