Andrew Dunn went the distance last night, lifting Danvers over Danvers Blue, 6-2. Dunn finished with 11 walks and 10 strikeouts in his no-hitter performance.
At the plate, Dunn went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI and a run scored for Danvers (5-4). Ryan Kelleher finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI, while Aaron Pecci added another RBI.
Danvers has won five of its last six games with help from Joe Stone (2-for-3), Joe Jones (1-for-2) and Jake Cawlina (1-for-1).
NORTH SHORE GIRLS BASKETBALL SUMMER LEAGUE
Hamilton-Wenham 43, Ipswich 38: Catherine Ecker and Leslie Bynum each had 15 points for the Generals, while Jenna Gagnon netted a game-high 17 points for the Tigers.
Bishop Fenwick 34, Masconomet 31: Gianna Pizzano helped the Crusaders to a victory with her 13-point performance, while Hannah Kiernan also had 13 for Masco.
Wakefield 36, Lynnfield 29: Amanda Butler (13 points) and Rachel Hamilton (nine points) were the high scorers for Wakefield. Rachel Goodwin added 10 for the Pioneers.
Beverly 27, Danvers 19: Devin Walsh netted a game-high 14 points for the Falcons in the loss.
DISTRICT 15 WILLIAMSPORT ALL-STARS
Danvers American 6, Manchester-Essex 3: John Weimert threw 4-plus innings, while Andrew Olzak and Colby Holland closed the door in relief as Danvers stayed alive in the District 15 tournament. Holland also had a big game offensively with four RBI, including a two-run home run. Danvers American meets Amesbury tonight (5:30) in an elimination game.
WORLD TEAM TENNIS
Washington 25, Boston 12: Martina Hingis and the Kastles took care of the Lobsters to hand Boston (1-2) its second straight road loss. Washington took all five matches, winning men’s singles 5-2, women’s doubles 5-3, mixed doubles 5-3, women’s singles 5-2 and men’s doubles 5-2.
Eric Butorac had two aces for Boston and won 36 total points while Katalin Marosi won 37. The Kastles won their record 34th straight match.
