---- — Stonehill College senior cornerback and former Masconomet standout Kevin Anderson was named the NCAA.com Division 2 Defensive Player of the Week and the Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week after a brilliant performance in the Skyhawks’ 26-24 victory over Assumption College Saturday night.
Anderson matched the Stonehill program’s single-game record with three interceptions, including a 98-yard pick returned for the game-winning score with 6:19 to play.
Anderson also finished with three tackles and posted a game-high 168 all-purpose yards with 49 yards coming on three kickoff returns. He was also recognized as one of Beyond Sports Network’s Defensive Players of the Week for Div. 2.
All three of Anderson’s interceptions led to points for Stonehill, and his 98-yard interception return is the longest in Div. 2 this season and the longest for a Stonehill player since Mike DeBye took one back 100 yards for a touchdown against Assumption in 2005.
Anderson has eight career interceptions and is now tied for seventh on Stonehill’s all-time interception list.
