Peabody 5, Winthrop 0: The Tanners (6-0) have posted five consecutive shutouts as Hayley Dowd and Victoria Digiacomo both scored a put pair of goals for the win. Madison Doherty scored the final marker for Peabody. Coach Dennis Desroches credited the win to overall team defense, which didn’t allow a single shot on net.
Amesbury 5, Masconomet 1: Sammi Sheehan scored the Chieftains lone goal with an assist from Olivia Buonopane. Unbeaten Amesbury led 2-1 at halftime and pulled away as Masco (3-2-1) pressed in the second half.
Hamilton-Wenham 3, Rockport 1:
Sue Rose, Alana Vecchiarello and freshman Emma Beane each scored goals as the Generals improved to 5-1. Liz Rose played well in the defensive midfield for Hamilton-Wenham, which faced a big test against unbeaten Amesbury on Monday.
Newburyport 2, Ipswich 1: The Tigers (4-1-3) held on until the Clippers scored the winning goal in the final minute of play.
Emily Folan scored Ipswich’s goal with an assist from Sydney Law and Emily Brengle had an outstanding game marking Newburyport’s top forward.
North Shore Tech 1, Mystic Valley 1: Sophomore Brooke Miles netted the tying goal with a rocket from the 18-yard line that hit the net in the top corner. Sophomore Keely Gallagher made seven saves to ensure that the Bulldogs (3-4-1, 3-3-1 CAC) came away with a point.
Bishop Fenwick 3, North Reading 1: Jen Crovo recorded five kills and 22 digs to guide the Crusaders (7-2) yesterday, while junior captain Kate Lipka finished with 15 kills and three blocks.
Governor’s Academy 3, Pingree 1: The Highlanders (2-4) moved past Governor’s in four matches (15-25, 28-26, 10-25, 14-25) as senior middle hitter and captain Sam Torto had 11 kills and Casey Torto recorded five digs.
Reading 3, Masconomet 1: Senior outside hitter
Lexi Simmons finished with eight service points, 15 digs and six kills as the Chieftains fall to 2-6. Senior setter Abi Rose had 19 assists and 12 digs.
North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 3, Greater Lawrence 0: The Bulldogs (7-1) won in straight sets (28-26, 25-16, 25-19) with
Kasey Harris and Jasiela Abree enjoying strong games.
Masconomet 10, Amesbury 0: Senior captain Chip Sherman scored two goals and added three assists as the Chieftains (4-0-2) remained undefeated. Senior Luke Schell scored two goals, juniors Edison Forbes and Jeff Panella each had a goal and three assists and P.J. Criscione
notched his first goal of the season.
Watertown 2, Bishop Fenwick 1: Jimmy Brophy scored in the final minutes of the game to avoid the shutout for the Crusaders (1-7-4). Tyler Fouhey played well defensively and with injuries plaguing the team, Mike Mackenzie looked solid at his new sweeper position.
Rockport 1, Hamilton-Wenham 0: Center midfielders Andrew Kang and Ollie Cook
played well for the Generals (1-4-1).
Peabody 3, Winthrop 0: Ben Britton, Vlasi Duni and C.J. Alimonti netted the goals to move the Tanners to 3-1-2 overall. Ryan Wolf had a strong game defensively, while Tommy Drover finished with an assist.
Danvers 2, Marblehead 1: Danvers controlled play for most of the game and
Eric Martin scored two goals despite facing double and triple-teams. Drew Piazza and Zach Noring
had assists for the Falcons (5-0), who limited Marblehead to just one shot.
St. John’s Prep 240, Malden Catholic 264: Brandon Bingel shot 37 to lead the Prep (7-2) and Josh Wingardner shot 38 as the Eagles won in a tune up to next week’s Cahtolic Conference showdown with B.C. High.
Masconomet 160, Rockport 148: The Chieftains (8-1) were led by senior captains
Charlie May (34) and Zach Staub (32) and also saw strong play from freshman Tyler Harlow (24).
Hamilton-Wenham 140, Lynn Classical 84: The Generals recorded their first win of the season to move to 1-8 overall behind strong play from
Spencer Bergholtz (32), Brian Nicoll (30) and J.D. Askwyth (25).
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Marblehead 19, Revere 40: The Magicians evened out at 2-2 overall after taking the top three spots in Nate Fawler (16:00), A.J. Ernst (16:00) and Chris Rodts (16:33).
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Marblehead 19, Revere 44: Race winner Janaya Randall finished in 19:12 as the Magicians (3-1). Sarah Oliver (20:07) followed in third, Noelle Illa (20:09) was fourth, Jessica Cowan (20:10) was fifth, Lily Roberts (20:13) was sixth, Kelly Roland (20:16) followed in seventh and Anna Barrell (20:19) rounded out Marblehead’s top finishers in eighth.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE TENNIS
Endicott 9, Merrimack 0: Emilie Cloutier won a three-set match at first singles and teamed with Beverly’s Gina Pinciaro to win second doubles as the Gulls (9-1) took every point in a home win. Chrissy Martel and Natalie Egbert teamed to win first doubles and also both won singles matches.
Salem State 6, Plymouth State 3:
Jessica Spinale and Anna Yaskell both won singled matches and teamed to win a doubles match as the Lady Vikings (3-2) crawled over .500 for the season. Maddy Ward, April McDermott and Tara Garvey also won singles bouts for Salem.
COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
MIT 5, Endicott 3: Alyssa Clark had a goal and an assist but the Gulls (6-3) lost a high scoring game on the road. Kathryn Walker and Stacie Teevens also scored for Endicott.
Rhode Island College 3, Salem State 0: Freshman Emily Peay came up with 13 kills but the Lady Vikings (1-9) fell 25-18, 25-22, 25-18. Senior setter MacKenzie Carpenter had 12 digs and 21 assists for Salem State.
