Salem News 2013 Softball All-Star Team



North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie, Sophomore


Tremendous athlete and fielder for the Bulldogs ... Hitting improved tremendously this season, finishing with a .340 batting average in 50 at-bats ... Gave the Bulldogs solid defense at both short and center ... Had 17 hits, 18 runs, 10 RBI and one home run ... Named a Commonwealth Athletic Conference all-star ... Carries a 3.69 GPA and hopes to study marine biology at the University of Tampa ... Credits her father as her biggest softball influence.


North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie, Junior

Pitcher/ First Base

Given the Team Leadership Award this season ... Threw 92 innings with 138 strikeouts and a 3.28 ERA ... Finished with an 8-7 record on the mound, ... Gave up 82 hits, 43 earned runs and just 22 walks ... Combined for a no-hitter along with teammate Kaylyn County against Greater Lawrence ... Junior ace also had a three-run homer in that 14-0 win over the Reggies... Had a tremendous outing against Greater Lowell, picking up 15 strikeouts in the win and qualified the Bulldogs for the state tournament.


Salem, Sophomore


A two-time Northeastern Conference and Salem News all-star ... Honor Roll student dreams of going to Boston College ... Great combination of solid hitting and speed on the bases ... Racked up 25 runs scored and 10 RBI ... Was 34-for-36 on stolen base attempts ... Named team’s Offensive Player of the Year for her exceptional work at the plate for the Witches ... Showed tremendous leadership as a second-year starter on a fairly young team.


Beverly, Senior

Second Base

Panthers’ No. 5 hitter had a .345 average ... On-base percentage of .648 ... Knocked in 11 RBI ... A varsity starter since sophomore year ... Started every game at second for the past two seasons ... A tremendous leader both on and off the field ... One of three senior captains ... Named a Northeastern Conference all-star ... Was named a Salem News field hockey all-star this past fall ... Will attend UMass Amherst in the fall.
