The Beverly Little League 11-year-old all-star team is moving onto the sectionals after winning the District 15 championship.
Beverly defeated Danvers American, 7-6, to win the title on Friday night. Andrew Mezza’s two-run double in the third inning was one of the game’s big hits, and he added an RBI double in the fourth inning after Robby Black and Shane Cassidy preceded him with back-to-back doubles.
Nathan Randazza and Mattew Ploszay were excellent defensively for Beverly, which got terrific pitching from both Black and Cassidy.
Beverly, which previously defeated Gloucester American (8-7) and Amesbury (5-4), will now play in the Section 4 tournament in Swampscott beginning July 17.
Jack Thibodeau and Kevin Rooney both had three hits in the game for Danvers American, which got strong pitching from J.T. Cashman as well.
