Swampscott senior Peter Hale was victorious in the Emerging Elite 2-Mile race at yesterday’s New Balance Indoor Nationals, recording a personal best 9:18.42 at the Armory in New York City.
Last June, Hale took part in the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, finishing in the middle of the pack with a time of 9:36.02. This time around Hale emerged as the winner, beating his previous time by nearly 18 seconds.
Fellow Big Blue teammate Robert Seymour was 20th in the shot put with a throw of 49-01.75.
Peabody’s Drew Fossa was fifth in the 2-mile with a personal best time of 9:32, while senior Chris Cenami was 34th in the 60 meter dash (7:19 PR) and sophomore Christian Cedullo finished 56th (7:34). Cenami and Cedullo were also members of the 4x200 relay team which placed 35th (1:34.75) along with teammates Steve Vallani and Scott Myers.
