Area roundup: Fenwick field hockey upsets Tewksbury



Landmark 6, Cambridge School of Weston 2: Landmark (8-7) advanced to the Independent Girls Conference semifinals where it will face Montrose. Stephanie Scanlon scored two goals while Rachel Smith, Phoebe Britton, Katie DiRico and Isabelle Winston also scored for Landmark.

Waring 5, Woodward 0: Amanda Adams had a goal and two assists for Waring in the first round of the IGC playoffs. Merilyn Hinrichs recorded a goal and an assist, while Emily Friend, Sarah Kesler and Meg Graves each added a goal for Waring (11-4-1).

Salem 1, Lynn Classical 0: Joy Lima scored at the five minute mark of the first half on an assist from Deema Hejleh as the Witches finish their season at 6-10-2. Arianna Gaffney recorded her first shutout of the season.


Waring 2, Cambridge School of Weston 0: Aiden Wood and Matt Lyman had to goals for Waring (7-3-4).


Salem State 3, Salve Regina 2: Dan Smolinsky scored the only goal of the last 40 minutes as the Vikings (1-0) went on the road and outlasted Salve in their season opener. Revere native Chris Mastropietro scored his first collegiate goal and also the first of the season for SSU, Cam Moniz also scored and goalie Ryan Sutliffe made 20 saves.


Gordon 3, Eastern Nazarene 2: The top-seeded Scots got the winning goal from Caitlin Nedde in the 82nd minute to advance to their first conference final since 2005. Taylor McSherry scored with an assist from Nedde to tie the game in the second half while Nedde had a hand in all three Gordon goals by scoring early in the game.

Roger Williams 0, EnDicott 0: The Gulls bowed out of the CCC tournament, falling on penalty kicks after the teams battled for 110 scoreless minutes.


Salve Regina 2, Gordon 1: The No. 2 seed Seahawks scored the first two goals of the game and advanced to Commonwealth Coast Conference finals, ousting Gordon (6-12-1) from the league tourney. Dalton Weaner scored Gordon’s goal in the 67th minute.
