---- — The MIAA Educational Athletes Department and Coaches Education Program announced its selection of North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie’s Paul Worth as the recipient of the 2013 MIAA Football Coach of The Year Award.

“It’s just overwhelming,” said Worth . “I don’t know how to explain (how I feel). It’s a very, very nice honor and I am humbled by it.”

The award is given out based on excellence of character, impact upon students and community as well as coaching quality, and will be presented to Worth at the Third Annual Coach of the Year and Student of the Month Recognition Banquet on May 29 at the MIAA office in Franklin. The banquet begins at 6 p.m. with a reception prior to the event at 5:30 p.m. Worth’s Bulldogs went 8-4 last fall winning the Commonwealth Athletic Conference Small before losing to Cathedral in the Division 4A playoffs. Worth’s team played with sportsmanship, effort and most importantly, with the kinds of values that will serve the kids long after graduation. That’s what made this honor so special for Worth.

“It’s really never been about wins and losses with me,” explained Worth. “I’ve always tried to schedule up (against tough competition) because it’s more about competing at the highest level possible and challenging ourselves because in essence that’s what life is about.”
