Tuesday's Area roundup: Gillespie, Chieftains defeat Manchester Essex

Masconomet 13, Manchester Essex 5: Cam Jung netted three goals and added two assists as the Chieftains move to 5-3. Max Craig had two goals and one assist, while eight other players had single goals and Dylan Mann was outstanding at the faceoff circle.

GIRLS TRACK

Beverly 109, Salem 14: Nicole Kirsch won both the shot put and discus to highlight Beverly’s victory. Maeve Monahan (2-mile), Caitlin Harty (800) and Marykate Flaherty (400) also won events for the Panthers (2-2). Joy Lima won the 100 for Salem.

BOYS TRACK

Salem 73, Beverly 48: Jon Crimble, who hasn’t lost an event this spring, won the 100, 200, long jump and triple jump as the Witches won in difficult conditions. Aaron Palmer took the discus and the 110 high hurdles for Salem and undefeated high jumper Ben Sattiewhite also came in first place.

Bruno Caetano won both the 400 hurdles and 400 to highlight Beverly’s performance. Campbell Wood (2-mile), Dylan Perry (mile), Aren Salema (shot put) and Alex Grecco (800) also won events for the Panthers (0-4).

COLLEGE GOLF

SSU Second: Salem State’s Tom Grant was the medalist with a low score of 77 at the MASCAC Championship held at Blackstone National Golf Course in Sutton. The Vikings had a tgeam score of 336 and finished as runners-up to Westfield State by one stroke. Danvers native Taylor Alvarado and Stephen Parise also carded in the top ten.

MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE

UMass Dartmouth 12, Salem State 3: Max Gensenberg, Jacob Scordato and Ian Abrahamson scored the goals but the Vikings (7-7) remained winless in Little East conference play.
