Hidden Gems from Week 1 of the high school football season

Editor’s note: “Hidden Gems” will take a look at a few of the weekend’s under the radar performers in North Shore high school football.

DYLAN CRESSY, Marblehead: Had perhaps the best block of the weekend when, on a broken play, the senior captain came back from his pass route and threw a crushing block on a Danvers opponent, freeing up quarterback Will Millett to gain a big first down.

JORDANNY SANCHEZ, North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie: Junior captain caught a 24-yard touchdown pass in the Bulldogs’ season opening victory on their lone pass attempt. He also returned a kickoff 85 yards to the house after visiting Tri-County’s only score of the day.

ZACH DUGUID, Beverly: As his team’s only returning two-way starter, the senior defensive end plugged the gaps and made several tackles defensively while anchoring the Panthers’ rebuilt offensive line as a quick guard.
