Ipswich 8, Manchester Essex 2: Junior Sean Whooley pitched his second straight complete-game victory, scattering five hits and one walk while fanning five. Sophomore shortstop Mike Savioe reached base four times with two hits and two RBI for Ipswich, which has now won three of four games and improved to 5-11. Max Nesbitt had an RBI double and scored for the Hornets, Sean Desmond went 2-for-3 and Corey McCollough also had an RBI double.
Mystic Valley 5, North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 4: The Bulldogs dropped a back-and-forth affair when Mystic Valley scored the game-winner in the top of the seventh. Seniors Bryan Jackson, Tim Andersen, Chris Swiniuch and Alek Chongris each had two hits. Chongris drove in a pair of runs for North Shore (7-12) while freshman Mike Mitchell pitched well in defeat.
North Reading 6, Hamilton-Wenham 3: The Generals scored three runs in the first inning, but couldn’t add any more. North Reading scored all of its runs in the fifth and sixth innings to drop Hamilton-Wenham to 6-11. Nick Tufts led off with a triple and scored on a Austin Michel single. Pete Duval and Brian Nichol each added RBI in the first inning. Tufts finished with a pair of triples and Michel pitched well for the Generals.
Masconomet 4, Triton 2: The Chieftains made it eight straight wins in windy conditions at home. Joe Klingensmith earned the win, allowing two runs and three hits over four innings. He struck out seven before giving way to Will Twiss, who struck out five and allowed only one hit over the final three innings.
Twiss hit a two-run single in the second inning and scored a run. Speros Varinos added two hits, and Greg Dougherty had a hit, walk, run, RBI and stolen base for Masco (14-5).
Salem Charter Academy 6, Cambridge Academy 4: Ben Cravens and Andrew Mesrobian each had two hits for the Navigators (4-8), while Brian Rodriguez got the win in six innings and nine strikeouts.
