Countdown To Kickoff: 2 days to go What are your favorite all-time high school football uniforms?

The Salem News

---- — Note: Each day before the high school football season begins the Salem News sports staff will discuss a different topic as we Countdown to Kickoff.

What are your favorite uniforms?

PHIL STACEY: Swampscott with its navy blue jerseys with white numerals, white pants and the terrific Michigan-style navy blue helmets they don. (A close runner-up: Masconomet with its red jerseys, white pants and white arrow-on-red helmet look).

MATT JENKINS: It’s hard to pick one, so give me the dark-on-dark look like Peabody often did in the early 2000s, or like Marblehead and Bishop Fenwick do now with the all-black look.

MATT WILLIAMS: The White Knight look. White pants, white jersey with school colored numbers. A white helmet doesn’t hurt, either. The best school currently doing this is St. John’s Prep, though Peabody had a solid version in the mid 1990s. The fewer stripes and other colors the better. It just makes the players look and feel like they’re the good guys.

GIANNA ADDARIO: Gone are the days of the Brown-and-Yellow at Bishop Fenwick; they’ve now adopted Black-and-Gold into their color scheme. The all-black look with the gold helmets is very intimidating charging down the field.

JEAN DePLACIDO: Peabody High in their Tanner blues.

DAN HARRISON: The old Salem High uniforms: red and white with red helmets.
