COLLEGE FOOTBALL
There is nothing more dangerous on the gridiron than a defense that has a knack for finding the endzone.
In Saturday's 56-14 dismantling of Fitchburg State, the Endicott's defense came away with a fumble recovery and interception and returned both for touchdowns as the Gulls moved to 2-1.
Linebacker Nick Scozzaro returned a fumble seven yards to paydirt in the first quarter after Kevin Eagan came up with a big hit to jar the ball lose, and then CJ Elser picked off a Falcon pass in the fourth quarter and dashed 47-yards to the endzone. Quarterback Phil Konopka tossed a pair of touchdown passes connecting with Taylor Allen (seven yards) and Neil Powers (54 yards) while Mike Drinkwater (Hamilton) hauled in a TD catch of his own on a 30-yard strike from back-up Matt DeOliveira.
