DANVERS — Seven members of the St. John’s Prep football team have been chosen as Catholic Conference all-stars.
Penn State bound running back Johnny Thomas, a senior from Peabody, heads up the list. The reigning Salem News Player of the Year was leading the North Shore with 762 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in just over 3-plus games this fall before suffering a season-ending ACL injury against Everett.
Four other St. John’s Prep seniors were named Catholic Conference all-stars: center Sean Lovett, wide receiver Logan Mahoney, safety Michael Fawehinmi and quarterback Michael Geaslen. They were joined by Eagles’ juniors Jack Burt at tight and and wide receiver Owen Rockett.
St. John’s Prep (6-4) will host Xaverian (9-1) this morning at Cronin Stadium in their annual Thanksgiving Day clash. A victory by the home team will give the Eagles a share of the Catholic Conference title along with Super Bowl-bound Xaverian.
