Endicott wins NEFC, advances to Div. 3 Tourney

Drew Frenette threw three touchdown passes and the Gulls defense pitched a shutout as the Endicott College football team wrapped up the New England Football Conference championship with a 24-0 win over Salve Regina on Saturday.

Endicott (8-2, 7-0 NEFC) earned an automatic bid for the Division 3 Tournament. The Gulls will play at Rowan University in New Jersey on Saturday (time TBA).

Frenette connected with Nate Lewis for a 44-yard touchdown pass, then threw a pair to Alec Matys from 18 and 20 yards, respectively. All three touchdowns came in the third quarter. Frenette completed 14 of 30 passes for 250 yards.

Spencer Walsh was a workhorse out of the backfield, carrying the ball 37 times for 118 yards. Lewis (4 receptions, 90 yards) and Matys (4-69) were Frenette’s favorite targets.

Jason Silva led the Gulls’ defense with seven tackles and two interceptions. Craig Anderson, meanwhile, was in on 10 tackles and added one sack.
