How old were you when first picked up golf?
Seven years old.
What made you decide to golf in high school?
I won some tournaments back in eighth grade, but people told me not to do high school golf because it could mess with my other tournaments. But I wanted to represent my town, so I decided to join.
Last week you set a school record for most quarter points in a match. What did that mean to you?
Last year I tied the school record, so this year I really wanted to step up and my make goal. I put my head down, focused and practiced hard — and it paid off.
What is your favorite course in the area?
I'd have to say Masconomet's home course at Turner Hill. It's like the master's course of New England; there is no other course like it. You have to be prepared for some things you don't normally face.
What club do you feel you hit best?
I'd go with the driver. I hit my fairways with it; that's the key at Turner Hill. If you hit the ball straight there, you can score well.
Who is your favorite golfer?
I'd probably say Adam Scott. He probably has the best swing on the Tour. I want my swing to be like that; nice and smooth.
What type of music do you enjoy?
I listen to anything from rap and hip-hop to country.
Do you think Masconomet is poised to make a run in the state golf tournament?
I think we have (a great) chance. We have two freshman that are good, our sophomores have been scoring a lot of points, and we have some great seniors. If we put our mind to it I think we can do well.
COMING UP NEXT: Kane and the Chieftains (8-2) will host Ipswich at Turner Hill CC tomorrow afternoon.
