Freshmen firepower pushes Peabody to 10th win

Peabody High freshmen teammates Hayley Dowd and Victoria Digiacomo notched two goals and an assist each to lead the Peabody girls soccer team in its 5-0 dismantling of Billerica (4-7-1) on Saturday. The freshmen duo has now combined to score a total of 60 points (41 goals and 19 assists) through the Tanners first 11 games of the season.
The two goals on Saturday give Dowd a team-high 25 goals while Digiacomo has now churned out 16 goals on the season. Kaitlyn Brunell added a goal while goalkeeper Brienne Griffin made four saves. Peabody remains unbeaten and moved to 10-0-1 with its fourth shutout win of the season.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Lanois, Generals shine at Bay State
Alison Lanois finished in first place with a time of 19:27 — the number one time for all divisions at the Bay State Invitational. All seven Hamilton-Wenham runners finished in the top 30. Kristen Ashley took ninth (20:35), Emily Senning (20:46) finished 15th, Cyrena Shiland (21:03) came in 8th, Sarah Duffy (21:38) took 24th, Carrie Goodrich (21:55) was 28th, and Kerry Phelan (22:05) finished 30th.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Hamilton-Wenham fifth at Bay State
Connor Lyons captured fifth place overall (17:09) while Chris Benevento took 20th (17:31) for the Generals.
Peabody fourth at CM Invite
Nick Christianson finished 10th overall (16:29), Evan Braz took 16th place (16:49) and T.J. Demato captured 17th for the Tanners.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Curry 37, Endicott 6
Sophomore quarterback Phil Konopka hurled two interceptions and was sacked three times as the Gulls (3-4) offense managed just 181 yards of total offense, 66 of which came on the final drive of the game. Endicott was able to avoid the shutout when Konopka connected with Hamilton native Mike Drinkwater for a touchdown from nine yards out with 33 seconds remaining in the game.
MEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER
Gordon 2, Eastern Nazarene 1
Noah McGarr netted two goals for Gordon (6-8) including the game winner on a header with only a few minutes remaining in the match,
Bridgewater State 2, Salem State 1
Andrew Agnus headed in a Juan Panameno free kick for the Vikings' (7-5) only goal of the match.
Endicott 2, Curry 1
Topsfield native Kevin Ivester scored the game winner on an assist from Colin Doody with just under 11 minutes remaining in the contest. Craig Jameson added a goal of his own as the Gulls improved to 7-7.
COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY
Salve Regina 2, Gordon 1
Sophomore Clara Baker scored Gordon's (3-11) only goal of the match on an assist from Tori Blandin.
Endicott 4, New England College 1
Endicott earned its tenth win of the season behind the two-goal performance of Anna Giannoni. Joanne Reid added a goal and an assist while Alexandra Parese added a goal as Endicott bolstered its record to 10-6 overall.
Salem State 4, Eastern Connecticut 2
Karen Atkinson assisted on the Vikings final three goals as Salem State improved to 6-6 overall. Eryn Shea scored two goals while teammatess Sarah Quimby and April Rossetti added a goal apiece.
WOMEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER
Gordon 2, Eastern Nazarene 1
Caitlin Neddle scored both goals as the Scots improved to 7-8.
Endicott 6, Curry 0
Allyson Bellemore scored a pair of goals as the Gulls improved to 11-4 overall. Colleen Pepin, Caitlin Flynn, Karyn Plate, and Cheyenne Harris all scored for Endicott.
Bridgewater State 3, Salem State 1
Salem State's Erin O'Brien scored the opening goal of the match but the Vikings surrendered three unanswered goals dropping their record to 8-5.

Sullivan's gem, homer help Peabody West open state Final Four in style
Peabody West second baseman Kyle Lynch tosses the ball to first for the last out in Peabody's 5-1 win yesterday. Peabody West will play this afternoon against Southborough and again tomorrow against North Leominster.
NORWOOD — The tournament has become popularly known as the state Little League Final Four, but if yesterday's game is any indication, Peabody West is threatening to turn it into the Final One in a matter of days.
