Just two games into the 2009-10 season, the Salem State hockey team is already developing an encouraging resiliancy.
For the second game in as many tries, the Vikings (2-0) rallied from an early hole as SSC scored five unanswered goals in a 5-2 triumph over Plymouth State last night at Rockett Arena.
Justin Roy led the way with a goal and an assist. The sophomore from North Bay, Ontario got thigns rolling for SSC's offense when he lit the lamp late in the second period to make it 2-1 Panthers.
Brett Noll followed soon after with the tying goal while Nick Lampson notched the game-winner early in the third. Matt Johnson and Chris MacInnis added insurance tallies later in the third.
It was the first loss of the season for the Panthers (3-1), who were beaten by James Lacour's 24 saves. Salem State woke up after falling behind 2-0 in the first, peppering the Panther net with 20 shots in the second period alone.
Up next for Billy O'Neill's Vikings is a trip to Fitchburg State tomorrow night.
