Local players chosen for both CAL and CAC all-star football teams

Two players from Masconomet Regional and one from Hamilton-Wenham Regional have been named to the Cape Ann League’s All-League football team for 2013.

Mackenzie Cashin, a linebacker and fullback at Masconomet, and senior teammate Mike Tivinis, a running back and linebacker, were picked for the All-League squad. So was Nolan Wilson, a starter at both left tackle and defensive end for Hamilton-Wenham.

Two other Masconomet players — senior Austin Cashin and junior Corey Tines — were named CAL all-stars, while teammates Steve O’Reilly, Gavin Monagle, Troy Bunker, Harry Cwik, Ben Rosenbaum, Jack Butt and Nolan Rice were all honorable mention selections.

Three other Hamilton-Wenham players were chosen as CAL all-stars: seniors Ian Dickey, Pete Duval and Christian Ecker. The Generals’ honorable mention selections were Alex Rogers, Matt Curran and Andrew Cavanaugh.

From Ipswich, seniors Derek Chamberlain, Nate Glaster and Kyle Blomster were all picked as CAL all-stars while Dave Conway was chosen as an honorable mention.


Junior running and middle linebacker Dan Bailey was named Most Valuable Player of the Commonwealth Athletic Conference Small division, leading a host of eight North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie football players on the league’s all-star team.

Joining Bailey as CAC Small all-stars were senior Bulldogs Ross Murphy (tailback), John Sabbio (offensive line) and Ian LeFavour (quarterback); junior Yordany Sanchez (safety/wide receiver), and sophomores Brent Campbell (offensive line), Bryan Raustad (center) and Paul Lazzaro (defensive back).

In addition, junior Matt Almon and senior Andrew Gallione, Luke Popoloski and Charlie Self were CAC Small honorable mention picks from North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie, and Paul Worth was named the CAC Small Coach of the Year.
