Endicott sophomore Alex Elia has become the first player in Gulls history to be selected to play in the Premier Development League.
Elia will play for the Western Mass. Pioneers of the United Soccer League, which gives him the opportunity to hone his skills while maintaining NCAA eligibility and ultimately getting back on the pitch for Endicott next year.
"Alex is the first player in our program's history to compete at the PDL level," said Endicott coach Joe Calabrese said in a press release.
"Alex's quality first touch and ability to play out of tight areas or spaces will allow him to find success at the PDL level. The PDL will undoubtedly support his growth and development as a player."
Elia, a native of Someners, Conn., was Endicott's leading scorer as a freshman with four goals and had two goals and two assists last season.
