Tuesday's area roundup: Big day at the plate helps North Shore top Lynn Tech

North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 20, Lynn Tech 12: The Bulldogs (3-3) improved to 3-1 in CAC action with an offensive explosion. J.T. Bisazza led a parade of hits with five RBI and a triple, freshman Mike Mitchell had three hits and four RBI and junior Andrew Gallione had four hits, three RBI and scored three runs. Alek Chongris earned the win on the hill and Mitchel pitched in relief for North Shore.

Masconomet 6, Pentucket 2: Junior captain Tommy Budrewicz went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI and catcher Mike Manni was 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored to help the Chieftains (3-1 overall) stay undefeated in Cape Ann League play. Speros Varinos earned his third win, allowing one hit and three walks with seven strikeouts over five innings.

Ipswich 2, Amesbury 0: Senior Alex Amoroso threw six shutout innings to earn Ipswich’s first win of the season. Amoroso scored one of the Tigers runs and knocked in the other while Ryan Law pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to come away with the save.

North shore/Essex Aggie 1, Gr. Lowell 0: Junior Alyssa King had North Shore’s only hit of the day, moved to second on an error and took third and home on passed balls as the Bulldogs won a pitcher’s duel to improve to 3-1. Kaera Wyse scattered four hits over seven innings and struck out a season-high 14 batters.

Danvers 20, Swamspcott 4: The Falcons took care of the Big Blue on the road to earn their first win of the season. G played well in the loss.

agateHed:BOYS TENNIS

Pingree 4, Gann 1: Dan Peters (6-4, 6-2) and Jeremy Wiles (6-1, 6-4) won at second and third singles respectively for Pingree (1-1). Gabe Salter/Nate Johnson and Matt Menzie/Jack Santini (7-5, 6-4) swept the doubles matches.

agateHed:BOYS LACROSSE

Masconomet 8, Reading 6: The Chieftains (3-2) led 8-3 in the fourth quarter before some poor discipline led to some man up opportunities for Reading and the Rockets cashed in to make it close. Ben Hosely (two goals, one assist), Trevor Surrette (three goals) and Cam Jung (two goals) carried the offense while Corey Tines and Aidan Sears were strong defensively against Reading’s top attackers.

Bishop Fenwick 88, Austin Prep 42: The Crusaders improved to 4-0 behind triple winner Charlie Maistrellis who had personal bests in the 100 (11.7), 200 (23.7) and long jump (18-0). Pat Corcoran won the shot put (46-5.5) and discus (120) with personal records in both events while Nick Tambini topped the high hurdles (17.9) and the 400 hurdles 64.8. Miles Connor was first in the high jump (5-2) and javelin (104-11).

Bishop Fenwick 104, Austin Prep 27: Junior Becky Woodcock won the high hurdles (20.4) and the triple jump (27-10) for Bishop Fenwick (4-0). Becky Mercuro topped the 200 (28-3) and the long jump (14-10 3/4) and freshman Colleen Corcoran was first in the 100 (13.4), high jump (4-6) and was second in the long jump (13-0).

Gulls swept: Endicott’s four game winning streak was snapped with 6-2 and 11-2 setbacks against Babson. Jamie Corda, Emily Hoffman and Krista Fales all drove in runs for the Gulls (11-15).

agateHed:WOMEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE

Endicott 20, une 9: Holly Davis scored eight goals and added two assists as the Gulls (9-5) stayed perfect in league play. Kelly Tierney scored three goals and Caitlin Pratt added three as Endicott piled on 12 tallies in the second half to pull away.

Salem State 16, New England College 3: Bridget Dullea scored six goals and Kesley Russell had three goals and three assists as the Lady Vikings (4-6) jumped out to an 11-2 lead and never looked back.

Endicott 9, Suffolk 7: Matthew Paolo drove in four runs and had three hits as the Gulls (19-10) led 7-1 after three and held on for a non-league road triumph. Connor Ressell had three hits and Kevin Dupras struck out two in the ninth to nail down his fourth save.

agateHed:MEN’S COLLEGE LACROSSE

UNE 10, Endicott 9: New England scored the go-ahead goal with 1:13 remaining and handed Endicott (10-4) its first league loss of the year. Scott McCormack had give the Gulls a 9-8 lead with 3:12 to go before UNE scored two unanswered. Connor McCormack and Kyle Weber led Endicott with three goals each.

agateHed:MEN’S COLLEGE TENNIS

Wheaton 9, Endicott 0: Senior captain Jake Cohen won a set at No. 3 singles but the Gulls fell to 8-6 on the season.

UMass Boston 7, Salem State 2: Matt Lee won in straight sets at No. 1 singles and Krystian Biedul also won a singles match but Salem State dipped to 2-7 on the season.

Western New England 6, Gordon 3: Zach Hall and Kenny Gaudio were perfect on the day for the Scots (4-11), with each winning a singles match and also teamed to win a doubles match,

Endicott 5, Wheaton 4: Freshman Suzie Newman won at No. 6 singles to give Endicott (17-3) its third straight win. Beverly’s Gina Pinciaro teamed with Emily Cloutier to win a doubles match as well.
