Beverly 12, Melrose 6: The Panthers held Melrose to just two goals through three quarters behind excellent defense from goalie Kevin Lally and defensemen Mike Dooling and Andrew Irving. Senior attack Ryan Shipp also recorded his 100th career point with a second quarter goal, and finished with two goals and two assists.
Matt Page and Brendan Flaherty each tallied four goals, Nick Albano had two helpers, Brian Williams contributed one goal and one assist, and Jordan Rawding also scored for Beverly (7-1).
Chelmsford 16, Salem 12: Chad Coelho scored four goals and added two assist but the Witches lost a high-scoring affair. Pete Slattery (2-2), Craig Denehy (2-2) and Matt Wilson (3-1) also contributed four points apiece for Salem, which slipped to 5-3. Mat Muse pitched in with one goal and two assists and John Kapnis played well defensively.
Pingree 14, Winchendon 3: Freshman attack Max Trotsky scored three goals and dished out four assist to lead the Highlanders to a one-sided victory. Senior Jerome Cappadona and freshman midfielder Sam Ober each contributed three goals for Pingree, which played an excellent defensive game.
Marblehead 11, Newburyport 7: Brooks Tyrrell (three goals, one assist), Trevor Jones (three goals) and Dean Fader (two goals) carried the Marblehead (5-3) offense while keeper Nathan Maselek made 17 saves.
Hamilton-Wenham 12, Arlington Catholic 10: The Generals improved to 4-1 behind four goals from Catherine Martin and two goals and four assists from Emily Gaucher. Nicole Foringer also scored three times, Grace Papp recorded a pair of tallies, and Franny Ambrose added a goal.
Rockport 5, Ipswich 1: The Tigers were locked in a 1-1 battle until the sixth inning. That’s when Rockport broke the game open with four runs on six hits. Ryan Law pitched well for 5 2/3 innings for Ipswich (1-3) and Austin Rubino drove in the Tigers’ only run with an RBI double.
