Tuesday's area roundup: Ipswich takes down Triton for first win


Beverly 65, Swampscott 54: Jon Berchoff scored a team-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Beverly (5-4) while Sam Traicoff contributed a career-high 12 points to go with six rebounds. Chad Nelson poured in 30 points for Swampscott (2-8) to go with his 15 rebounds and sophomore point guard Joey Ragusa had nine points, five rebounds and three assists.

Bishop Fenwick 71, Cathedral 52: Bishop Fenwick (4-6) hopes to feed off of this big win that saw senior captain Travis Maxner (17 points) and Dom Luoni (16 points) elevate their play.

Greater Lowell 84, NST/EA 67: Trace Schaejbe collected 31 points but the Hawks dropped to 2-5 on the season.


Beverly 54, Swampscott 41: Ashley Augulewicz (nine rebounds), Melissa Lubas (eight rebounds), Bridget Keaton and Michayla Woodward each scored 10 points in the Panthers’ (4-5) fourth straight victory last night. Meghan Hartman also finished with 10 points for her Swampscott team.

Greater Lowell 64, NST/EA 24: Stefanie Campbell and Kaera Wyse scored four points each for North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie (3-3).

Masconomet 72, Amesbury 37: The Chieftains (8-0) shut out Amesbury in the second quarter to take a commanding lead. Nicole Femino had 21 points, four assists, four steals and four rebounds while Lauren Sorel came off the bench with six points, six rebounds and two assists.

Bishop Fenwick 74, Matignon 32: Bishop Fenwick improved to 5-5 behind strong performances from Sydney Brennan (16 points), Melissa MacKenzie (18 points) and Colleen Corcoran (13 points).

Lynn English 66, Marblehead 30: Marblehead dropped to 5-3 despite six points from Emily Freedland.

Revere 45, Gloucester 41: Junior captain Julianna Costanzo led the Fishermen with 28 points.

Ipswich 38, Triton 19: The Tigers (4-3) climbed over the .500 mark for the season as Jenna Gagnon scored a team-best 13 points. Freshman Kelsey Daly added 10 points for Ipswich and Abby McCarthy chipped in seven.


Masconomet 88, North Reading 80: Sophomore Michael Bartley won the 50 free (23.05) and the 100 free (51.52), Carly Soares took took the 200 free (2:01.06) and the 500 free (5:29.19) and the Chieftains moved to 5-0 on the year. The girls 200-medley relay of Lily Koenig, Soares, Emily Dow and Kathrine Gillespie qualified for states with a time of 2:04.68. Alex Galarneau also won the 100 butterfly (1:01.88) and the the 100 breast (1:09.87) for the Masco.
