Hamilton-Wenham 91, Manchester Essex 77: Junior Jack Blatchford won the 50 free (24.16) and freshman Olivia Horgan had a strong third place in the 500 free with a time of 5:57.72. Freshman Christopher Li had finish third in the 50 free (25.86) and third in the 100 Breastroke (1:13.66).
Bishop Fenwick 78, Matignon 62: The Crusaders improve to 6-0 on the season with double wins from Carson Christuk in the 200 free (1:50.38) and 50 free (23.41) and Connor Christuk in the 200 IM (2:15.59) and 100 free (54.97). Other first place finishers include Linsey Andrews (500 free, 6:09.44), Steven LaRochelle (100 Butterfly, 1:26.15), Pablo Jimenez (100 breaststroke, 1:21.53).
Ipswich’s Amoroso places 1st at CAL diving meet: Tessa Amoroso finished in first place at last night’s Cape Ann League diving meet with 225.90 points. Fellow Tiger Amelia Young was third with 198.45 points and qualified for both sectionals and states.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Salem State 67, Bridgewater State 66: Sophomore guard Rachel Ledbetter hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Vikings to victory on Saturday. Junior guard Rachael Carter paced SSU (7-11) with a game-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds, four assists and a steal. Senior forward Ginny Fleming (Peabody) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Salem State 60, Bridgewater State 59: Senior guard Andrew White’s free throw with 14 seconds remaining provided the difference as the Vikings managed to survive a second half rally by the host Bears. Junior guard Bryan Ortiz (Salem) netted 19 points, while White finished with a double-double as he tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three assists and three steals. Senior forward Ryan Salvador scored 10 points off the bench as the Vikings improve to 12-5 on the season and remain undefeated in the MASCAC (5-0).
