Topsfield's D'Agostino takes second place, sets PB in mile at BU Terrier Classic

BOSTON — Dartmouth College senior Abbey D’Agostino of Topsfield set a new personal best in the mile by placing second at the BU Terrier Classic over the weekend.

D’Agostino finished in a time of 4:28.31 and bested third place finisher Jordan Hasay by 6/100ths of a second. That time beat the former Masconomet Regional star’s previous best of 4:30.03 in the mile, which she ran last February at the Millrose Games at The Amory in New York.

In doing so, D’Agostino became this year’s runaway leader in the indoor mile among NCAA females. The Big Green standout’s time was more than 10 seconds better than the previous mark put up by Dominique Scott of Arkansas.

Mary Cain of the Nike Oregon Project (same team as Hasay) won the race in 4:24.11. That time was just 1/100ths of a second off the world junior mile record set three years ago.
