GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
The Peabody girls cross country team captured its second invitational win of the season after Saturday’s performance at the 21st Annual Bay State Invitational Cross Country Meet held at Northfield Mountain Recreation Area. With a combined score of 88 points, the Tanners took three of the top 10 scores in the Division 1 meet.
Catarina Rocha captured first place with a time of 18:49, the sixth fastest time in course history.
“This was the first time the girls ran this course all together,” said coach Joe Rocha. “It was a very challenging course. We wanted to see what the course was like though, because this is where all-states will be held. I’m very pleased with the girls and the way they competed. We’re running against the top teams in the state, so it’s a real credit to the girls.”
Lauren Barrett came through with a time of 20:30 to finish in fifth place, while Sam Allen ran a 20:48 for seventh place.
Rounding out the top five finishers for Peabody were Antonia Pagliuca (34th, 22:03) and Sydney May (49th, 22:32).
