(Continued)

BOYS SOCCER

Beverly 0, Marblehead 0: The Panthers move to 8-4-3 behind strong play defender Mateus DePaula and midfielders Sean Curtin and Sean Hanlon.

St. John’s Prep 1, Silver Lake 1: Nate Schmidt scored his eighth goal a season to give the Eagles (13-1-2) a one goal lead heading into halftime. The Prep led the rest away, until a Silver Lake striker scored with nine seconds remaining on a corner kick. Defender Matt Brady played an excellent game and striker Matt Chilton was strong offensively.

GIRLS SOCCER

Pingree 6, Concord Academy 0: Charlotte Esty (assist) and June Kiely each had a pair of markers for the Highlanders (6-3-1). Katlyn Oliver (assist) and Hannah Becker also added to scoring, while goalkeepers Erin Cunningham and Nicole Khachadourian combined for the shutouts.

ACTON-BOXBORO 2, PEABODY 1: Hayley Dowd scored to put the Tanners on top in the first half, but the Colonials scored a pair of second half goals and handed Peabody its first loss in 39 outings. It was just the second regular season loss for Peabody (14-1) in the last four years.

FOOTBALL

Lynnfield 34, Ipswich 6: Though the Tigers (1-6) dropped their fourth contest in a row, the game was closer than the score indicates. Down by only two touchdowns at the half, the Ipswich defense did its best to stop Lynnfield’s running game. The Pioneers added two more scores in the third quarter, before the Tigers even got on the board. Chris McCormack caught a 14-yard pass from Kyle Blomster for Ipswich’s only TD of the day.

FIELD HOCKEY

Beverly 3, Andover 3: The Panthers earned a solid tied against one of the state’s top programs yesterday. Beverly opened a 2-0 lead before Andover stormed back with three goals to take the lead. Katie Pietrini scored the tying goal for Beverly (13-1-1) with less than two minutes to play.

Nicole Woods had one goal and two assists for the Panthers while Livvy Konaxis also scored. Natalie Shea pitched in with an assist. Marykate Flaherty and Camden Vitale played well defensively and Felicity Otterbein made 14 saves in net.
