Friday's area roundup: Masco girls clinch title



Hamilton-Wenham 9, Manchester Essex 1: Nick Tufts homered, drove in three runs and scored twice to lead the Generals as they improved to 5-7. Austin Michel carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and earned the win, and Matt Andre went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Peabody 3, Everett 2: David Apostolides pitched a complete-game with five strikeouts and Matt McIsaac ripped a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to drive in the game-winning run for Peabody (14-2). McIsaac led the Tanners with two hits and George Tsonis went 1 for 3 with a run. Tsonis (at third base) and sophomore Ryan Collins (at shortstop) played excellent defense on the left side of the infield for Peabody, each turning a double play.


Pingree 10, Portsmouth Abbey 8: The Highlanders improved to 9-4 thanks to two hits and three RBI from Kelsey Dion and two hits and two runs from Maria Garbarino. Christina Chalmers also pitched well, allowing six hits and striking out six.

Peabody 8, Saugus 2: Mikayla Wallace went 1-for-4 with a grand slam home run in the first inning to put the Tanners (10-2) ahead early on. Captain Jess Raymond went 2-for-3 three with two doubles, while sophomore ace Shelbi Wilson allowed just one hit, no earned runs, on six strikeouts and six walks.

North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 17, Presentation Of Mary 5: Nine different players knocked in runs for the Bulldogs (8-5). Dianna LeBlanc went 2-for-2 with two RBI, Alyssa King finishes 3-for-3 with one RBI and Ashley Blym went 3-for-5 with one RBI. Kaylyn County threw 10 strikeouts over six innings of work, gave up five hits and three earned runs to pick up the win.


North Andover 4, Beverly 1: Josh Cronin picked up the Panthers only point at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-2. The Panthers, who slipped to 6-4, also got a solid performance from Eno Jahaj and Connor Gill at first doubles.
