Both the Endicott College and Salem State University baseball teams open up play in the NCAA Division 3 New England Regional tournament tomorrow.
The double-elimination regional tournament, which will be placed at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, has eight teams playing for the right to advance to the NCAA Division 3 World Series in Appleton, Wisc.
Endicott (32-12) earned the No. 3 seed in the eight-team draw and will open NCAA play against No. 6 St. Joseph’s of Maine (30-12) tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. The two teams met earlier this season in Beverly, with the Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Gulls earning a 4-2 home victory. This is Endicott’s fifth time in the NCAA baseball tournament.
By virtue of its No. 7 seed, the MASCAC champion Salem State baseball squad (25-13) will meet second seeded Wheaton College (30-10) at 8 p.m. The Vikings, who were shaded by Wheaton earlier this season (6-5), will be facing a Lyons team that were the national runners-up a year ago.
