St. John's Prep earns No. 2 seed in state volleyball tournament

With a fine 17-3 regular season record now in the books, the St. John’s Prep volleyball team will turn its attention to the postseason.

The Eagles earned the No. 2 seed in yesterday’s 17-team North Division 1 draw. They will host No. 15 Greater Lowell (10-10) in a first round matchup tomorrow at home at 7 p.m.

Setter Sean Brennan and outside hitters Zack Burt and Brian Keogh serve as captains for St. John’s Prep, which also finished 11-1 in league play under head coach Scott Celli.

Lawrence High (19-1) earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament, while defending state champion Cambridge Rindge & Latin (15-3), which the Eagles have already defeated this season, is the No. 4 seed. Both squads are on the other side of the bracket and wouldn’t meet St. John’s until the sectional final.
