The Hamilton-Wenham girls cross country team, which hasn’t lost a Cape Ann League race since 2004, rolled again yesterday as sophomore
Emily Weigand and junior Emily Horgan both finished in a time of 19:36 as the Generals raced past Masconomet, 19-41.
Claire Pacione placed fourth overall in 20:11 while Sarah Duffy was fifth (20:27) and freshman Meghan Stone was seventh (21:15). Fellow freshman Jeanine Zeng took eighth (21:17) for Hamilton-Wenham, which improved to 5-0.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Masconomet 21, Hamilton-Wenham 38: The Chieftains (5-0) took four of the top five spots to roll to victory. Senior captainJake Moorman was first overall in 16:23 while Liam Davis (3rd, 16:55), Harry Kent (4th, 17:01), and Jay Polakiewicz (5th, 17:05) also placed in the top five.
Junior Matt Gillis placed second in 16:31 to lead the Generals (2-3). Sophomores Mike Allara (17:16) and Jack Blatchford
(17:24) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Salem 2, Peabody 1: The Tanners (2-1-2) struck first as Ben Manoogian put one past Steve Harris to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Alex Carvajaltied it up in the second, and Robert Abreu gave Salem (3-1-1) the lead and ultimately the win. Harris finished the night with nine saves for the Witches, and Shawn Bernado recorded an assist for Peabody.
Pingree 1, Lexington Christian 1:
Cam Knowles scored the equalizer in the second half on a long range shot from center midfield for the Highlanders (1-1-2). Tyler Rosted played excellent on defense andNate Graves and Harry Copeland had strong games at midfield.
Archbishop Williams 2, Bishop Fenwick 1:
Rishad DeSilva scored on a penalty kick to give Fenwick a 1-0 lead but unbeaten Archbishop Williams battled back to win. Keeper Greg Enos played well for the Crusaders (1-5-2) as did Joey Grayand Mike Desmarais .
Lynnfield 2, Ipswich 0: The Tigers fell at home in a Cape Ann League bout.
Marblehead 8, Winthrop 3: The Magicians move to 2-3 overall after yesterday’s home win.
