The diverse offering of road races on the North Shore is being celebrated in a new way.
After the public nominated races and a panel selected the winners, the results are in for the Best of the North Shore Road Race Guide 2012 awards. The winners will be honored at The Best of the North Shore Road Races Awards Night on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. at Finz Seafood & Grill in Salem.
The winners and honorable mentions are as follows:

Starts and stops
Still looking for a long-distance race to run in the spring? The fourth annual Black Cat 10- or 20-miler in Salem is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, at 8 a.m. The race starts at Bentley School in Salem and heads out to Marblehead Neck before runners turn around; the 20-miler requires runners to do two laps on the course.
