Danvers wrestlers host second-ever home meet tonight

By Dan Harrison

---- — DANVERS — The Danvers/Hamilton Wenham cooperative wrestling team will hold its second and final home meet of the season tonight against Saugus High at the Danvers High field house beginning at 7 p.m.

The Falcons downed Salem, 27-18, in their first-ever home meet last Wednesday in the program’s young, two-year history.

Tonight, captains Sam Anderson (junior, 152 pounds), Chris Behen (sophomore, 138 pounds) and Chris Davis (sophomore, 113 pounds) are hoping for a similar result with the Sachems in town. Davis scored a huge win his match against Salem, wrestling up a weight class at 120 pounds and defeating the Witches’ talented Tahmid Raji.

Danvers will also look to Jackson Leete at the 106-pound weight class for a big performance. Leete has certainly been a wrestler to watch for Danvers/H-W this year; at a tournament in Timberlane, N.H., last Saturday, he took home second place and has now placed in every tournament Danvers has entered this season.
