Grammer, a three-year starter for the Chieftains, was the central player on Masconomet’s state championship team this fall. His presence on the field was unmatched and was instrumental in his team’s title season.
The 17-year-old center midfielder led his team in points with 22. He was also the leading goal scorer (15 goals) and second on the team in assists.
“He was our best man-marking defender and was one of our best players in the air,” said head coach Dave Mitchell. “He was one of our stronger defenders, tough on the ball. Adam has amazing field vision and an understanding of the game. He is the consummate team player and an outstanding student-athlete.”
A team captain, Grammer netted a goal and an assist during Masco’s 4-2 victory over Walpole in the Division 2 state championship game.
Grammer was named the Cape Ann League Large Player of the Year and also got a nod on the Eastern Mass All-Star team. He was selected to the NSCAA All-State and All-New England Regional Teams. In the EMass all-star game, he assisted on the go-ahead goal and assisted on the game-winning goal in a 5-4 victory over the South squad.
Captained the Chieftains to a Division 2 state championship ... Named to the All-Cape Ann League team ... Selected as an Eastern Mass all-star ... Caries a 4.4 GPA ... Applied early decision to Middlebury College, where he plans on playing soccer ... Four-year letterman has been to two state finals ... Despite sustaining a concussion during the regular season, he played key minutes at center midfield during the state tournament ... Finished the season with 11 points on three goals and eight helpers.
