North Shore field hockey 2013 team-by-team capsules

Head coach: Tricia Murphy (6th season)

Last year’s record: 16-2-1 (Northeastern Conference champions)

Other key returnees: Kate Silvestri, Sr., F; Hannah Silvestri, Jr., D; Camden Vitale, Sr., D; Mary-Cate Flaherty, Sr., D; Molly Pitman, Sr., F.

Outlook: Beverly hopes to carry the momentum over from last season as it looks towards its second season with a turf field at home. Murphy hopes the girls continue to work hard and remain flexible with everything she has planned for the fall.


Head coach: Mary Beth Mahoney (8th season)

Last year’s record: 10-9-1

Team captains: Bridgette Townsend, Sr., GK; Kathleen Moran, Sr., M.

Other key returnees: Natalie Moore, Sr., M; Jackie Hart, Jr., M; Maura Benson, Sr., D; Erinn Johnson, Sr., A.

Outlook: Fenwick made it to the second round of the Division 2 North tournament last fall, and the goal this year is to improve on that. The Crusaders have a nice mix of experience and determined youth, and once the girls learn to play together they’ll become even better.


Head coach: Jill McGinnity (1st season)

Last year’s record: 10-7-3

Team captains: Catie Lamoly, Sr., M/F; Nicole Kamens, Sr., M/F; Katherine Leonard, Sr., F; Rachel Trocchi, Sr., F.

Other key returnees: Nicole Papamichael, Sr, GK; Lauren Johnson, Jr., D; Raquel Leslie, Jr., D. Amanda Ward, Sr., D.

Outlook: What the Falcons lack in experience, they make up for with athleticism and a willing to absorb coaching. Danvers expects to compete in a tough Northeastern Conference.


Head coach: Linda Collins (36th season)

Last year’s record: 10-6-3

Team captains: Eliza Fitzgerald, Sr., F; Molly Ackerman, Sr., D; Maggie Danforth, Sr., D.

Other key returnees: Suzanne McCarthy, Sr., F; Hannah Fobart, Jr., F; Charlotte Moriarty, Sr., M; Casey Collins, Jr., D; Abby Dimare, Jr., D; Olivia Hazlett, So., D; Cassidy Alla, Jr., GK.

Outlook: The Magicians had a strong offseason where the girls worked hard on conditioning, playing indoors and attending camps in an effort to become a cohesive unit that can play on both grass and turf.


Head coach: Pam Grant (3rd season)

Last year’s record: 10-4-3

Team captains: Dayna Collins, Sr., F; Jenna Ferullo, Sr., F.

Other key returnees: Diane Migneault, Sr., M; Courtney Cavanaug, Sr., M; Brittany Pine, Sr., D; Noel Koch, Sr., D; Aly Bortone, Sr., F; Cayli Armstrong, Jr., M/F.

Outlook: The Tanners’ defense looks strong and, with nine seniors, this team feels like they’re poised for a promising season.


Head coach: Toby Channen (6th season)

Last year’s record: 16-3-2

Team captains: Tori Thistle, Sr., CF; Tessa Beane, Sr., D; Nora Walker, Sr., Sw.

Other key returnees: Angela Videtta, Jr., D; Danielle Mayblyum, Sr., M; Victoria Himiras, Sr., CM; Sami Sinrich, Jr., LM; Annie Kane, Jr., LW; Aimee Alyward, Jr., F; August Solone, Jr., D; Abby Price, Sr., D; Olivia Capone, So., GK; Lyvia Antrim, So., D; Mackenzie Foster, So., F.

Outlook: Fresh off the most successful campaign in program history, the Big Blue are looking for another successful season behind an experienced cast that includes Tori Thistle, who had 22 goals last fall.
