Coach: Craig Massey (7th season)

Last Year’s Record: 9-11

Captains: Hannah Mullarkey, Sr., libero; Hannah Wilkins, Sr., outside hitter; Kayti LeFrancois, Sr., def. specialist

Other Players to Watch: Stephanie Adorno-Martinez, Soph., setter; Codey Homan, Soph., outside hitter; Julia Florence, Sr., middle blocker.

Outlook: “We had some close losses and underachieved a bit last season, but we’ve made the state tourney two of the last three years and are looking to get back there this season,” said Massey.


Coach: Adam DeBaggis (5th season)

Last Year’s Record: 17-5 (Lost in Division 2 North quarters)

Captains: Kate Lipka, Sr., middle hitter; Gianna Pizzano, Sr., outside hitter; Jen Crovo, Sr., outside hitter; Tessa McLaughlin, Sr., setter.

Other Players to Watch: Chandler Wilder, Sr., def. specialist; Olivia Morsey, Sr., libero; Siobhan McConnell, Sr., outside hitter; Julie Ywuc, Sr., setter; Madison Camelo, Jr., middle hitter; Alexis Bedard, Jr., right side; Melissa McKenzie, Soph., right side.

Outlook: The Crusaders have 11 returnees, so there’s plenty of reason for optimism and ambition. “We want to be the best around,” said DeBaggis.


Coach: Jen Flynn (4th season)

Last Year’s Record: 8-10

Captains: Julia Fibbe, Jr., middle hitter; Leah Walsh, Sr., libero; Jaclyn Wescott, Jr., outside hitter.

Other Players to Watch: Katelyn McCarthy, Jr., setter; Tori Vivenzio, Fr., setter; Maddie O’Connor, Jr., middle hitter.

Outlook: It appears to be a growing year for the Generals, but the players look like they’re accelerating the timetable with their communication and hustle. “The kids came back in excellent volleyball shape,” said Flynn.


Coach: Lisa Keene (10th season)

Last year’s record: 17-2 (Lost in Division 1 North quarters)

Captains: Jillian DiFelice, Sr., outside hitter; Carolyn Scacchi, Sr., middle hitter; Katie Gallo, Sr., outside hitter.

Other players to watch: Olivia Summit, Sr., outside hitter; Jillian Rubin, Sr., libero; Courtney Bua, Jr., outside hitter; Sarah Hosman, Soph., setter; Emily Diezemann, Jr., middle hitter.

Outlook: Qualifying for the postseason isn’t enough anymore for the Tanners. A deeper tourney run is the objective.


Coach: Peter Amirault (2nd season)

Last year: 12-7 (Lost in Division 3 North first round)

Captains: Christa Leger, Sr., outside hitter (hip injury, out for season); Jassiel Abreu, Sr., middle hitter; Kasey Harris, Jr., outside hitter; Courtney Remson, Jr., outside hitter

Other Players to Watch: Sabrina Napoli, Jr., off side hitter; Isabel Camacho, Soph., middle hitter; Emily Therrien, Soph., libero; Dianna LeBlanc, Soph., setter; Erin Creane, Soph., middle hitter; Rachael Langone, Soph., server; Kelsey Ballard, Jr., outside hitter.

Outlook: “We lost seven seniors, lost our height and defense, which was one of the best in the (Commonwealth Athletic Conference). But if our defense picks up we could win 75 percent of our games and get a higher seed in the state tourney, which is our goal,” said Amirault.


Coach: George LaVasseur (1st season)

Last year’s record: This is first season as varsity program

Captains: Kara Connors, Jr., right side hitter; Allie Walsh, Sr., middle hitter;

Other Players to Watch: Shannon Veilleux, Fr., setter; Erin St. Pierre, Soph., outside hitter; Devyn Borders, Sr., outside hitter; Julia McNulty, Fr., outside hitter.

Outlook: Danvers has been trying for 10 years to get a program off the ground and now that it’s finally happening, the enthusiasm is off the charts. “We had almost 50 kids come out and the girls know they’re out there to win. Don’t count out the Falcons,” said LaVasseur, who was an assistant at Lynnfield last year when the Pioneers reached the Division 3 state final.


Coach: Beth Savarese (11th season)

Last year’s record: 9-9

Captains: Morgan Cusack, Jr., outside hitter; Casey Torto, Jr., libero

Other players to watch: Hanna Stasiuk, Soph., middle hitter

Outlook: “After graduating five of our six starters last spring, we are looking to rebuild. Defensively we will be strong in the back row with consistent serving,” said Savarese


Coach: Killeen Ross (1st season)

Last Year: This is a first year varsity program

Captains: N/A

Players to Watch: Samantha Payne, Soph., middle hitter; Lindsay Simmons, Jr., middle hitter; Isabel Marcey, Sr., setter; Emily Messinger, Jr., outside hitter; Hannah Cohen, Jr., right side hitter; Maeve Daley, Jr., outside hitter.

Outlook: Coach Ross brings college experience to the program, having been a player and then an assistant coach at Endicott College. “We want to teach more than the basics; coach them at a higher level,” said Ross. “My goal is to go .500 and to be a totally different team at the end of the season.”


Coach: Pam Padovani (7th season)

Last Year’s record: 14-3 (Lost in Division 1 North quarters)

Captains: Kristen Abbondanza, Sr., middle hitter; Hayley Finik, Sr., right side; Bridget Keaton, Sr., outside hitter

Other players to watch: Alex Kelliher, Jr., middle hitter; Ali Cabral, Soph., outside hitter; Katherine Brown, Sr., outside hitter; Liz Musumeci, Jr., def. specialist; Megan Kelly, Jr., def. specialist; Samantha Lear, Jr., right side; Olivia George, Soph., outside hitter.

Outlook: “We’ve done some goal-setting individually and for the team. We were over-tired by the time we reached the state tourney last year and got knocked in the first round. That was because of the way I coached. We’re looking to go further this season. We have team chemistry and the positives we possess can take us far,” said Padovani.


Coach: Alyssa Schatzel (6th season)

Last Year’s record: 9-10

Captains: Kate Barry, Sr., setter/right side; Maddie Kelly, Sr., middle hitter; Natasha Murray, Sr., outside hitter.

Other Players to Watch: Haley Greenslade, Sr., right side; Katherine McManus, Jr., setter; Maddi Burliss, Jr., middle hitter;

Outlook: “We lost the Cape Ann League Player of the Year in Lexi Simmons (now at Elon College in N.C.) and those are big shoes to fill, but all of the captains are three-year varsity players and there’s a really good vibe on this team. We barely missed the tourney last year and there’s a fire to get back there,” said Schatzel.


Coach: Chip Emery (3rd season)

Last Year’s record: 4-12 (Lost in Division 2 North first round)

Captains:Fay Liakopoulos, Sr., setter; Melissa Stephens, Sr., middle blocker; Gina Asipenko, Jr., outside hitter.

Other Players to Watch: Taylor Irwin, Sr., middle blocker; Giana Delano, Soph., opposite; Becky Vulikh, Sr., outside hitter.

Outlook: “It was huge for us to make the postseason last year (by going at least .500 vs. divisional foes) and we’re trying to build off that. We have 13 kids on the roster after having eight last season and we feel we’re getting a little stronger every year,” said Emery.
