Salem State, Endicott now tied atop North Shore Cup standings

The latest standings in the North Shore Cup are in, and there is a tie for the top spot between Salem State University and Endicott College.

The North Shore Cup, which rewards points in games played between neighboring rivals Gordon College, Salem State and Endicott, has SSU having caught Endicott for the top spot with 77 percent of the possible points earned. The Vikings have recorded 30 out of possible 39 points through games played Nov. 30, while the Gulls of Beverly 37 out of a possible 48 points.

Gordon College sits in third place with 54 percent of possible points, having earned 29 out of a possible 54.

None of the teams will face each other in any athletic competition for the rest of 2011. The next contest takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012 when Salem State men's basketball plays at Endicott.

Salem State also has a new policy of free admission to all city of Salem residents to all of the university's regular season athletic contests. This includes this weekend's Men's Basketball Classic, which begins today at the Twohig Gymnasium.
