Friday's area roundup: Fenwick volleyball ties program record for most consecutive wins

Bishop Fenwick 3, Masconomet 0: Behind a combined 31-kill effort from senior captains Kate Lipka and Jen Crovo, the Crusaders swept Masco 25-20, 25-7, 25-19 to improve to 14-1 on the season. Fenwick tied a program record for most consecutive wins in a single season, with 14, which was previously done in 2010. Tessa McLaughlin recorded 33 assists and Gianna Pizzano added 12 digs.

Masconomet (9-6) senior outside hitter Haley Greenslade had service points, two aces, eight digs and one block, while junior Maddi Burliss finished with seven service points and five kills.

Salem 3 Danvers 0: Outside hitter Hannah Mullarkey had 11 kills and six aces as the Witches (12-6) swept Danvers 25-23, 25-16, 25-10 and qualified for the tournament in the win. Cody Hamon recorded nine kills, while middle hitter Julia Florence added a pair of blocks and three kills.

Peabody 3, Beverly 2: The Tanners continue to dominate this season, recording their 16th win to stay unbeaten, topping NEC rival Beverly (25-14, 25-11, 18-24, 24-26, 15-6). Jillian DiFelice had 21 service points and eight aces. Sara Hosman added 12 assists and two aces, while Carolyn Scacchi had 17 kills and seven blocks.

Pingree 3, Lawrence Academy 1: Middle hitter Gabby Assad recorded nine kills, while Vanessa Jonah added seven aces for the Highlanders (5-7), who won in four sets 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20.

Hamilton-Wenham 3, Saugus 0: Junior Maddie O’connor had 12 aces, while senior Leah Walsh added two aces as the Generals swept 25-21, 25-14, 25-22.

BOYS SOCCER

Somerville 3, Peabody 1: Ben Manoogian scored the Tanners’ only goal as Peabody recorded its first loss of the season to a very strong Somerville team. Vinny Dos Santos recorded an assist, while Ben Britton, Nick Bettencourt and Bobby Caproni played well on the defensive end. Peabody travels to Salem tonight for its final game in three days.

Masconomet 5, Triton 2: Adam Grammer netted a hat trick, while P.J. Criscione and Kevin Gilbert rounded out the scoring for the Chieftains (14-1-1). Senior Jack Heintzelman added two assists, while this was the first game in Cape Ann League play that Masco has been scored upon.

Ipswich 2, Georgetown 2: Matt Jaeger had two goals and Neil Coleman added the assist for the Tigers (7-8-1)

North Reading 3, Hamilton-Wenham 2: Russell Gregorian netted both goals for the Generals (7-3-5), who welcomed back Ben Danforthe from appendix surgery and recorded an assist.

Salem Academy 4, Kipp Academy 2: Ben Craven (assist), Kerwin Medrano, Madiyar Tatimbekov and Joe Phongsyabong (assist) did the scoring for the Navigators (4-5-4).

GIRLS SOCCER

Masconomet 3, Triton 3: Kaleigh White had two assists, while Sammi Sheehan scored 58 seconds into the game for the Chieftains (10-0-4). Julia O’Reily and Izzy Scarpone added assists in the tie.

Waring 2, Montrose 0: Amanda Adams notched her 22nd and 23rd goals of the season as Waring remains undefeated at 11-0. Merilyn Hinrichs added assists, while Grace Gustaserro, Brooklyn Stam, Malcom Boomer and Brooke Adams played well on defense and Holly Stam made four saves for the shutout.

Ipswich 2, Georgetown 2: Eliza Sataile and Emily Evans did the scoring for the Tigers (7-3-6). Defender Claire Gardner played a strong game defensively.

Marblehead 3, Whittier Tech 0: Mia Bongiorno had two goals, while Jess Attridge added the other score for the Magicians (10-3-2). Lauren Unterborn recorded the shutout in goal.

Hamilton-Wenham 1, North Reading 1: Caroline Gribbell scored at the 14 minute mark to give the Generals a 1-0 lead. Emma Beane played well for H-W, defended well on the left side while getting involved in the offense.

FIELD HOCKEY

Masco 2, Newburyport 0: The Chieftains recorded back-to-back shutouts and remain undefeated at 14-0-1. Maddie Doyle and Belle Ives did the scoring, while keeper Kiley Currier made some key saves in the win.
