Local student-athletes to take part in Girls and Women in Sports Day tomorrow

FRANKLIN — Fourteen local student-athletes will take part in tomorrow's Massachusetts Celebration of Girls and Women in Sports Day at Fanueil Hall in Boston.

The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to noon, will recognize two girls from each participating high school with certificates.

North Shore girls taking part in the event, listed by high school and with the sports they participate in, are listed below:

Beverly: Sky Cowans (soccer and track) and Erin Silvestri (field hockey, basketball and softball)

Bishop Fenwick: Allie Kennedy (gymnastics and tennis) and Lauren Moulton (soccer, basketball and lacrosse)

Danvers: Chrissy Gikas (soccer and softball) and Katie McKenna (soccer, basketball and lacrosse)

Essex Aggie: Julianne DeGenova (soccer, basketball and softball) and Grace McNally (volleyball, track and lacrosse)

North Shore Tech: Kourtney Kellard (soccer) and Kiley Morgan (volleyball)

Peabody: Kaitlyn Brunelle (soccer, basketball and softball) and Taylor Provost (soccer and basketball)

Salem: Dasha Corpuz (cross country, winter track and spring track) and Brandi Lavoie (cross country, winter track and spring track)

Three-time Olympian and five-time World Cup soccer participant Kristine Lilly is the keynote speaker at the event, which is a formal but fun recognition day for high school female athletes and the adults who support and inspire them. This year's theme is Title IX at 40, In It For The Long Run.
