Salem finishes sixth at state decathlon

---- — Salem took a trio to the Mass. State Coaches Association decathlon held in Burlintgon and finished sixth out of 17 teams with 14,573 points. Each athlete competed in the 100, long jump, 400, shot put and high jump on day one of the competition and then took part in the 110 hurdles, 1500, triple jump, javelin and discus on day two. Points for finishes in the various events are then added up.

Aaron Palmer finished seventh overall among 82 athletes with 5,574 points. Jerry Canada put up 4,893 total points and was 19th, and Jonathan Swayze contributed 4,106 points.
