Gordon men shut out Salem State

MEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER

Gordon's Matt Horth sent a penalty kick into the back of the net as the Fighting Scots grabbed their first win of the season, 1-0 over visiting Salem State.

Gordon's Joel Spruance was taken down in the box to give Horth the penalty chance, which he sent into the lower right corner for the only goal of the contest.

Ryan Coil stopped four shots to record the shutout for Gordon (1-2-0), while Salem State (0-1-1) keeper Scott Hall stopped four shots.

The Vikings' best chance to knot things up came on Juan Panameno's free kick in the 74th minute.
