Area roundup: Salem State women's soccer wins behind Connolly's marker

Ryan Trott got his first start in goal for Fenwick and performed well, as did usual goalie Greg Enoswho moved to midfield. Iftimi Arapi also played well for Fenwick (1-6-3).

GIRLS SOCCER

Salem 4, Lynn Classical 2: The Witches (2-3-1) scored the last three goals of the game to earn the come from behind win. Nicole Sadoway had a goal and two assists and Joy Lima, Hannah Van De Stadt and Deema Hejleh also scored while Brenna Burke and Sydney Hanford earned single assists.

Cardinal Spellman 1, Bishop Fenwick 0: Spellman struck for the game’s only goal five minutes in, but Fenwick played well in defeat. Freshman goalie

Merry Harrington stood out in net while Gina Vellucci played excellent defense. Jenny Nasser

was also solid in the midfield for Fenwick (3-3-3).

VOLLEYBALL

Bishop Fenwick 3, Austin Prep 0: The Crusaders improved to 6-2 with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-17 win over Austin Prep. Chandler Wilder had 22 digs to lead the way for Fenwick while Jess Ywuc (3 kills, 3 blocks) and Gianna Pizzano (7 kills) also played well.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Gordon 3, Curry 1: The Fighting Scots (9-5 overall) earned their first conference win 25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 25-12. Lauren Kranyak led Gordon with 18 kills while Joy Kimmel paced the attack with 38 assists.

COLLEGE FIELD HOCKEY

Salem State 3, Southern Maine 1: The Lady Vikings (7-1) won their fifth straight behind goals from Lauren Pazdziorny, Kathleen Clark and Courtney Lynch. Michaela Boyer

made five saves for Salem State to earn her seventh win of the season.

MEN’S COLLEGE SOCCER

Bridgewater State 3, Gordon 1: The host Bears scored the first three goals of the game as Gordon dipped to 2-6-1. Andrew Vandervort’s goal int he 32nd minute denied BSU the shutout.

Endicott 1, Westfield State 0:

Jordan Daniel scored the game’s only goal in the 86th minute to lift the Gulls (5-4-2) to a non-league win at home. Ryan D’Amico assisted on the goal and keeper Daniel Higgins made five saves for the clean sheet.
