Boys lacrosse pairings: Beverly, Marblehead among many vying for D2 crown
Wes Shrewsbury and Masconomet earned the No. 3 seed in the Division 1 East tournament. The Chieftains will face the winner of the game between No. 14 seed Xaverian and No. 19 seed Barnstable.
The road to the Division 2 boys lacrosse state championship has never been longer.
There are 32 teams in the Division 2 East field and no byes for any team, which means more games and more action for those lacrosse fans desperate for some postseason action. -
H-W's Phelan, Masco's Hebert named CAL All-League in two track events
Hamilton-Wenham track and field superstar Kerry Phelan was named champion in two different events as the Cape Ann League announced its annual spring track and field All-League team.
Phelan, who helped lead the Generals to the CAL Meet title, had the best times of the season in the league in both the 800 meters (2:23.78) and the 2-mile (11:24.35). -

Masco's Shamon headlines CAL softball all-stars
The Masconomet softball team's major turnaround this spring was recognized by the Cape Ann League, which released its season honors yesterday.
Chieftains first-year coach Mike Gibeley was named CAL Division 1 Coach of the Year after leading Masco to the D1 league title and getting them back into the state tournament. -
Salem State's Zolotas named All-American
One of the top golf seasons in recent memory was rewarded this week as Salem State's Nick Zolotas earned a spot on the PING Division 3 All-America team. The Peabody native was selected to third team determined by the Golf Coaches of American Association.
